Feature delving into the story of the Assad dynasty. Right at the centre of it are President Bashar and his wife Asma, who met and fell in love in London. Bashar al-Assad trained to be an eye doctor at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington and Asma was a British-born girl from a Syrian family with a career in investment banking. Over a decade ago, they were being welcomed with open arms in Britain. Today, they are entrenched in a brutal war that has led to some of the most horrifying crimes of modern times. Told through rarely seen footage and testimony of those who knew them, worked with them and studied them, the series explores how the couple, who at first were seen as a modernising force, ended up running a regime accused of war crimes.

In 1886 philanthropist and social researcher Charles Booth embarked on a truly epic project to map the social conditions of every street, every house and every family in the whole of London. It was one of the most comprehensive social surveys ever conducted, and this series updates his work, shedding new light on social mobility in contemporary Britain. This landmark six part series featuring residents past and present is history in microcosm, told through the stories of six London streets and exploring more than 100 years of radical and unpredictable social change. Viewers will see what happens when lawyers move out of an area and criminals move in, and when no-go areas become the enclaves of the rich and famous. Series two travels to Scotland to tell the stories of three archetypal streets in Scotland's three great cities: Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Endlessly surprising and not at all what you would expect, the stories of these streets are the story of a nation.

One in three of us admit that we wouldn't intervene to protect a stranger. A 12-year-old girl is beaten and stamped on by a crowd of teenagers on a crowded bus. A man is punched to the ground and kicked repeatedly in the head in an almost deserted London street. Gun-wielding robbers threaten a cashier in a petrol station. Witnesses in five separate incidents are forced to decide - intervene and risk their own safety or disengage and turn away. Whether they choose the path of a have-a-go-hero or passive bystander, their decisions will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
The first-hand testimonies of those involved are intercut with CCTV footage and dramatic reconstruction, as the stories unfold to reveal the split-second choices that were made. Whilst some witnesses are seemingly paralysed by fear, others step in. Some escape unscathed while others pay a heavy price for their courage...

An intimate portrait made by award winning film-maker Jane Treays, the film follows Tom during 2010, an exceptionally challenging year for the youngster, as he defends his World, European and British Championship titles and sits nine GCSEs at Plymouth College. His number one fan, driver and bag carrier is his dad, Rob. The film follows Tom and his dad, dealing with exam pressure, injury and planning ahead for London 2012, where Tom dreams of winning the gold medal in the men's 10m platform.
Rob too is facing a highly personal challenge. Four years ago he was operated on for a brain tumour the size of a grapefruit. The tumour is now growing back, and the film follows Rob as he undergoes scans and tests to determine treatment. "I wonder if I'll make 2012, or see grandchildren. I think, why me?" As Tom's schedule becomes increasingly hectic - up to six hours diving a day as well as fitting in academic study - Rob tries to plan his year around international competitions and hospital appointments. The film follows Tom as he turns 16, from boy to man, and visits Sheffield, Budapest and Tuscon as he trains to master the world's most difficult dives. No longer a child prodigy, Tom has to compete against 26-year-olds with more strength and experience.
